The 3rd edition of the Asia Urban Energy Assembly, held in conjunction with ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2025, centred on accelerating the region’s energy transition with a focus on clean energy, energy efficiency, and emerging technologies. The conference underscored the urgent need to address Asia’s growing cooling demand, projected to triple by 2050, and explored district energy systems as a key solution.
Sudheer Perla, Managing Director of Tabreed Asia, moderated a panel on “India Outlook”, leading discussions on India’s clean energy trajectory. The panel examined how the country can scale renewable energy integration and leverage district cooling technologies to meet urban energy demands. The discussions brought out the critical role of innovative cooling systems in reducing emissions while addressing India’s soaring energy needs and the importance of regulatory support and innovative financing models in driving sustainable energy growth in India and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
Additionally, Colin Stuart Sangster, Senior Vice President, Business Development at Tabreed, also participated in a panel discussion on Asia-Pacific district energy developments while Philippe Coquelle, Chief Development Officer of Tabreed, took part in the “Asia Future Energy Outlook” panel, where he discussed the broader trends and challenges shaping the future of energy in the region.
