Forum on Energy Efficiency & Decarbonization 2024

The Forum on Energy Efficiency and Decarbonisation 2024 (FEED 2024), organized by AEEE, centred on India’s push towards net-zero emissions, focusing on decarbonization, energy efficiency, and clean technology adoption. Against the backdrop of India’s G20 leadership and its commitment at COP28, the forum brought together key stakeholders to discuss transformative action across industries.

Sudheer Perla, Managing Director of Tabreed Asia, participated in the panel discussion titled “Cooling Conundrums: Navigating Challenges in Adopting Non-traditional Cooling Technologies”, where he discussed the critical role of non-traditional cooling technologies, such as district cooling, in addressing India’s surging demand for cooling while reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

During the panel, Sudheer emphasized that the adoption of such innovative cooling technologies requires a combination of supportive regulatory frameworks, investment incentives, and strong public-private collaborations. He outlined the specific challenges India faces in implementing non-traditional cooling solutions, including financing, awareness, and infrastructure readiness, and how these can be navigated with strategic partnerships and a focus on long-term benefits.

Sudheer’s contribution to the discussion provided valuable insights into how India can integrate non-traditional cooling technologies into its urban planning and energy strategies, aligning with its decarbonization objectives while meeting the increasing cooling needs of a growing population. The session underscored the need for scalable, sustainable cooling systems that can drive energy efficiency and play a pivotal role in India’s climate action.
