Cooling-As-A-Service (CaaS)
Cooling as a Service (CaaS) is a business model that delivers District Cooling through a subscription or pay-as-you-go model. CaaS is similar to providing utilities like water, gas or electricity, where the end consumer pays a monthly bill for cooling, depending on use, in a similar fashion to paying electricity bills or gas bills based on meter readings. This model helps convert the initial capital expenditures that are often a concern for technology uptake, into long-term operational expenditures.
- Cost Flexibility: By converting capital costs into operating costs, CaaS reduces the financial barriers that often prevent the adoption of District Cooling technology.
- Access to Advanced Cooling: Treating cooling as a central utility ensures that communities across diverse urban landscapes can access high-quality, energy-efficient cooling solutions.
- Sustainability: CaaS supports the shift to more sustainable, long-term cooling infrastructure, enabling cities to meet their climate action goals.
